As of version 1.1, Wedgies¬ has been redesigned to incorporate plug-in modules. Simply stated, these modules are optional files that provide additional games and sounds for Wedgies¬. They're designed to make Wedgies¬ more customizable (for you), a little easier to distribute (for me), and a little less hassle in the long run (for both of us). As of this writing, there are two types:
1. Win/Razz Sound Plug-Ins
2. Game Plug-Ins
Note: If you choose not to use the plug-in modules, that's okay. You'll be limited to the basic Wedgies¬ product which contains only a few games and sound options, but if that's what you want, no big deal.
Ñ Compatibility and First Time Installation
To use Win/Razz Sound plug-ins or Game plug-ins, you must have Wedgies¬ version 1.1 or above. They'll work with both the shareware and registered versions of the product.
All plug-in modules must reside in a folder called "Plug-Ins" (without the quotes) which must be in the same folder as the Wedgies¬ game program. You can rename the plug-in modules to anything you want, but don't rename or relocate the plug-in folder or Wedgies¬ won't be able to find it.
Ñ Upgrading from a Previous Version
Due to file size considerations, the shareware version of Wedgies¬ is distributed with a minimal game set. In other words, there's a slim chance that you'll receive few, if any, updated plug-in modules with updated programs. If you've managed to accumulate any plug-in modules ╤ and I hope you have since that's what Wedgies¬ is all about ╤ you'll need to move them (your current collection) to the new Plug-Ins folder. If the Finder happens to ask you if you want to replace any of the newer files, just DECLINE.
Version 1.3 plug-in game files contain a different file format than version 1.2 (which was different than 1.1) game files. If you're updating from version 1.1x or 1.2x, the newer version of Wedgies¬ will automatically update your old plug-in game formats the first time that it encounters them. Do NOT try to run these plug-in games under the older version (1.1x or 1.2x) after you have run them under 1.3 or above!
Ñ Win/Razz Sound Plug-Ins
These plug-in files will add extra options to the sounds you hear at the end of a game. To see the options available, check out the Win and Razz Sound pop-up menus on the Preferences screen after you start the program.
Ñ Game Plug-Ins
These plug-in files add new games (pictures and sounds) to Wedgies. To see all of the available games, check out the Game popup menu after you start the program.
Ñ Wedgies¬ Updaters
Up until Wedgies¬ version 1.1, a few add-on games were distributed through "updater applications" which modified the Wedgies¬ program itself. These updaters will not work on Wedgies¬ version 1.1 and above. The games, however, are being redistributed as plug-in modules on several on-line services such as Compuserve.
